Chardonnay 2016 Villa Minelli

100% Chardonnay

This white wine has a straw yellow colour and intense fruity bouquet, with hints of spring flowers and ripe yellow fruit which reoccur on the palate, together with a pleasant richness of flavour and freshness. The grapes are hand-picked and sorted in the vineyard, followed by fermentation with low sulphur dioxide content and ageing on fine lees until bottling.

HARVESTING AND VINIFICATION

Hand picking in 10/12 kg crates, when the grapes are perfectly ripe. The grapes are sorted in the vineyard, then on a vibrating table in the winery, followed by destemming, soft crushing by roller, very short cold maceration with dry ice and fermentation at a controlled temperature with low sulphur dioxide content. Ageing on fine lees for as long as possible, bottling and short bottle-ageing.

TASTING NOTES: a sleek crystal-clear wine with a straw yellow colour and robust consistency. It immediately unfolds on the nose with impeccably elegant fruity and flowery aromas of golden delicious apple, ripe pear, white-fleshed peach and banana. Pleasant hints of lime flowers, lilies and chamomile then appear. On the palate, it is generous and velvety, superbly balanced by a rich background flavour, minerality and structure. The wine then unfolds with an alternation of caressing warmth and lingering freshness against markedly fruity notes. Ideal with baked turbot, fried shellfish and crustaceans, small pumpkin gnocchi and fresh creamy goat's cheeses.
